Exist to be happy not to impress

Source

Peace.  Love.  Happiness.

The three main things that I want in life.

Truthfully, where the most peace, love and happiness comes to me?  At home, or anywhere that I am with my husband and kiddos. And my extended family.

Happiness and peace comes to me when I'm writing and reading. Not watching TV or playing games on my phone.

Priorities need to shift.  My mind has to be geared towards focusing on these things that make me the most happy.  I need to be focused on priorities that bring me peace and happiness rather than those things that I might be doing to make other people happy.

Thus, this blog.

Focusing on writing.
Focusing on my newest bucket list.
Focusing on being happy, not impressing.

Change is in the air

There are moments when you know you NEED to make a change.   There are moments when you WANT to make a change.  When those moments collide, comes the big decision.

I'm working on a few big decisions to make these next 40 years the best, and so that I'm going into my 40th year - - still a tiny bit over a year away - - the best as well.

#1 decision:  be healthy.

For me, that start with Isogenics (shakes and nutrients that cleanse out toxins)...at least for 30 days.

Now even though you make the decision, and you, your brain, and your body know that you WANT and NEED the change?  That doesn't make it easy.

I'm five days in, and so far I can say it hasn't totally been smooth sailing.

I struggled a bit on the third day.  Very hungry, really craving foods.  But I stuck with it, and felt healthy and hopeful because I did.

And now on day five, I was at a birthday party for a young six year old, and there was a modest but scrumptious spread of hot dogs, some sort of queso/taco dip that looked (and was confirmed to be by another mom) positively cheesy goodness indulgence, and chips.  I mean -- that is like the pinnacle of unhealthy foods for me.
my temptress.

And guess what? I avoided all three! Even after my sweet Jilly Bean tried offering me a few of the items because she couldn't finish hers.   #victories

I'm planning on being more present here - which has to deal with decision #2, so stick around for more there...

And don't be surprised if I'm sharing some #behealthy victories along the way!

On being present.

It's easy to be present during the holidays.

Rushing from shopping to wrapping to baking to entertaining... {notice how I didn't include cooking, because that's the husband's job} you don't have much time to think of anything else.

But then you sit after the holidays have ended. Perhaps a little tired, and feeling that post-holiday down time to the nth degree.  Holiday dishes to put away, remnants of toy packaging littering the floor and thoughts of the other life responsibilities that come to mind.

from The Secret Daily Teachings, December 24

The thing is, it seems the tiredness of the holidays makes it harder to be in the present. Easier to 'space out', spend time on Facebook and lose track of goals.

My goal for the rest of the week is to reverse that practice, and be in the present.  Spend my time being productive, being with my family and taking part in my passion: writing. Focusing on the most important things.  The golf balls

Learning to Enjoy Life More

Just a short time ago I turned 38.  I thought perhaps that meant I'd entered the 'second half of my life', but did you know the average life expectancy for a woman in the United States is 81?!

Go medical advances, go. I remember the days that it was somewhere in the seventies.

Anywhoo.  My thinking was that I could create a blog that would detail how I want to make the second half of my life the best half. But since the typical second half of my life wouldn't actually start for about two years, I decided to just start doing it.  LIVING MY BEST YEARS.

Expect some inspirational quotes...because those are my jam.
And likely some devotionals that make me think.  Like this one:

And if you know me at all, you know you are going to see story upon story upon story about my kiddos.
